I Want To Look like BARBIE !

There are over 40 different types of cosmetic surgeries that you can pick from. From head to toe, you can have some part of your body enlarged, reduced, smoothed or taken off completely. And for more than 40 years Barbie dolls have been set before our girls and girls have dreamed of one day looking like Barbie. I read of a 48 years old woman that aspired to look like a Barbie doll although she none of the features of Barbie. So she started getting all kinds of surguries to accomplish her goal. She had the money, so she did it.

I wanted to talk about a NECK LIFT. What condition is your neck in. Does it get a lot of activity, turning around and watching other people and what they are doing or not doing? Does your neck get a little stiff? There is a term in the Bible 'stiff-necked" that God uses several time in reference to his children, the children of Israel. What does stiff-necked mean and can I ever be accused of being stiff-necked?

Exodus 32:9 And the Lord said to Moses, *I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people

Ex 33:3 for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people

Ex 33:5 For the Lord had said to Moses, *Say to the children of Israel, *You are a stiff-necked people

Ex 34:9 Then he said, *If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a stiff-necked people

Deut 9:6 Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people

Deut 9:13 Furthermore the Lord spoke to me, saying, *I have seen this people, and indeed they are a stiff-necked people

STIFF-NECKED * stubborn, unyielding, arrogant, and proud. The phrase *a stiff-necked people* is a figure of speech for rebellion and disobedience taken from stubborn domestic animals, such as oxen that turn their shoulders away from the yoke and refuse to follow directions. Israel was stiff-necked in refusing to obey the Word of God and in following after idolatry and immorality (Deut. 31:27; Neh. 9:16*17, 29; Jer. 17:23).

BUT, have you noticed Barbie has a stiff neck?

Take a moment to think about where your neck is located and what the function of your necks plays in your life. Your neck is the narrow pathway between your brain/head and your body. All the nerves have to pass through your neck to get to your brain so your brain can tell your body what to do. Have you ever seen anyone with a stiff neck? Or, perhaps you yourself have suffered from a stiff neck. Even the way one sits, stand and moves is effected by a stiff-neck. A stiff-neck is a powerful condition. Even the range of motion having a stiff neck is very limited, seeing only what is in front of you, not even being able to see side to side.

What is also very interesting is the attitude of the person that has a stiff-neck. Not always the most positive one in the bunch, you can tell that their stiff-neck has even effected their thinking causing them to be rigid and stubborn. Being stiff-necked I am rigid and stubborn; I can't see the whole picture, just what's right in front of me; my attitude about what I see and how I feel is negative and harmful to myself as well as others. It is impossible to please GOD with a stiff-neck. But one thing I know, even with a stiff-neck, I can drop to my knees and bow in prayer and 'have a little talk with Jesus'. And if allow GOD to work in me, through me, around me, I can recover.

"Hello, my name is __________________, am I am a recovering stiff-necked,
God fearing child of GOD Almighty.

Labor Day was different 'back then'.

When I was a kid, Labor Day was different. We didn't go to the lake, or grill out, or have a bunch of people over. No, we had to labor on Labor Day.  Dad got off from his job at Plymouth Plating Works in Plymouth, Michigan but he stayed home and worked. It was considered an 'extra day' to work on the house, to take care of the house we were fortunate and blessed to have.  They bought that house in 1959 for the enormous price of eighteen thousand dollars. Today, a  vehicle alone can cost you more than that and will depreciate as soon as you drive it off the car lot. But that was a lot of money then, and I can only guess that a large amount of dad's paycheck went to keeping a roof over our heads. So on Labor Day, we laboured. Plus, other days dad got off. He didn't HAVE to be Labor Day. We ALL had to help paint the outside of the house or clean something. My sister and I helped our parents and it didn't matter how old we were either. ...
